This works a treat, and makes up for Safari’s rubbish “View Source”.

Quietube →
A simple but effective little site plus bookmarklet for viewing YouTube (and a few other video services) video, without all the comments, ads and other junk. As their slogan says, “Videos without the distractions”. Nicely done.

A little spur-of-the-moment clip I took a few weeks back landing at Manchester Airport. The airport was closed for several hours that morning due to, as you’ll see, what seemed to be very localised snow. Pretty much everywhere other than directly around the airport was clear.
The (fantastic) soundtrack is “Girls” by Death in Vegas, from their album “Scorpio Rising”.
ScreenSharingMenulet →
Simple but excellent little app which allows quick access to other computers via Screen Sharing right from your menu bar.

A pretty incredible, and beautifully both articulated and presented, concept video from a research project initiated by Swedish publisher Bonnier, “which aims to capture the essence of magazine reading, which people have been enjoying for decades”. I think they have done a great job, and it will be fascinating to see what parallels there are from next week’s announcements from...
First-Person Tetris →
A pretty impressive take on Tetris, although the title is misleading. Don’t forget to arm yourself with motion-sickness pills.
The Take-Away Shows →
A growing collection of low-key performances from a great collection of artists, kind of similar in format to the Black Cab Sessions, which I also recommend.

I collected tracks from my favourite 10(-ish) albums from last year over the last few days here. I hope there’s something new for you. As always, I fully expect to find a ton of albums I didn’t know about in time — suggestions welcome.

SoundSource →
The tiny little application I’ve always wanted without even realising it. Rogue Amoeba’s SoundSource allows quick switching of audio out sources from the menubar, and - best of all - automatically detects when headphones are connected to Mac Pros and switches sources accordingly. Brilliant.
